Cleveland DJs and Lighting Team at Josaphat Arts Hall

Cleveland wedding DJs from Rock The House helped host a reception at Josaphat Arts Hall. This venue is very unique for creative and fun wedding receptions. An example of how creative a wedding can get is this Halloween-themed reception. This event had a custom gobo design of an image from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The DJs provided music and MC services. RTH also provided wedding lighting services for the celebration throughout the whole facility. One of the ways this event was so memorable for guests was the addition of Rock The House’s Photo Magic Green Screen. Guests had fun with friends and family celebrating. Check out the Rock The House website for more information on wedding DJs or other production services.

Record Day in Cleveland

This past weekend was one for the record books! 20 events throughout the Cleveland, Ohio area were thrilled by Rock The House DJs, MCs, dancers, photobooths, and a variety of custom lighting designs specifically created for our client’s visions.

Over 60 Rock the House team members rocked the lives of students, families, companies, and couples on Saturday. Each event was great for unique reasons. From a stunningly elegant tented outdoor wedding for wedding planner extraordinaire, Valerie Kirkbride, to Kyle’s Bar Mitzvah at Landerhaven, all the way to a number of really fun high school homecomings…this weekend had it all.

The team celebrated, at the end of the night, with a cookout at Rock The House Headquarters. Everyone was excited to share the details of their events with each other. It goes to show you just how much pride our team has in their work. That’s what sets us apart: Rock Star Entertainers working for Rock Star Clients.

One Magical Wedding

On July, 31 2010, our good friends Rick Smith Jr.,professional card throwing magician and Tiffany Marchak, performer for Jerry Bruno’s The Avenue” were married in a gorgeous ceremony on Cleveland’s west side. Due to their love and interest in all things entertainment, the couple decided that they could not simply have a traditional wedding reception.

Rick and Tiffany “dancing in the clouds”

In partnering with some of the most talented vendors in North-Eastern Ohio, like Jerry Bruno Productions, The Hilton Akron/Fairlawn, The White Flower Cake Shoppe and LCD Photography, an incredible wedding was produced.  However, it would not have all come together without the guidance of our creative and talented bride and groom. In this interview, the bride explains the method to their magical wedding ceremony.

RTH – In what ways did you use your experiences working in events to your advantage?

I see weddings every weekend because I sing in a wedding band – The Avenue – so I pretty much knew right away what works and what doesn’t. Advice…..tells whoever is giving the toasts to keep it short and NEVER choreograph your first dance! 99% of the time it is an awkward train wreck! You may not think it, but believe me you guests do

RTH – Tell me a little bit about your grand entrance…

We definitely didn’t want to do something normal. Being that we are entertainers ourselves and so were most of our attendants, we wanted to incorporate that into our entrance. With that in mind, Ryan, from Rock The House came up with a unique entrance and we just went with it!

RTH – In which ways did you use your abilities as entertainers?

Well, I sang of course and Rick and I both walked in for our grand entrance throwing cards. I mean it was only right now that I am “Mrs. Card-thrower”! :-)

RTH – Was it difficult to transition from being the entertainer to being the Guest of Honor?

At first, but we got over that pretty quickly! We talked about it ahead of time and we both really wanted to take everything in and enjoy it as we should. That was really important to us.

Atmospheric Lighting, Plasmas and decorative Gobo’s transformed the room into an extraordinary and modern reception space.

RTH – Tell me a little bit about the Vendors that you used and how you made those decisions, while also working in the business and working with these people regularly…

Because we see so many vendors at our events, we get to see first hand who may be the most professional, creative, etc.  Obviously we know Rock The House knows how to throw a party, so there was no second guessing that one. It was great, because we 100% knew and trusted that RTH wouldn’t do anything less than amazing. Also, I sing in a band called “The Avenue” and I really wanted my band mates to enjoy our party as a guest, so I hired another band though our agency called, The Jerry Bruno Orchestra” , and they split the night with RTH. It worked out great and we had the best of both worlds! We also used LCD photography. Have worked with them on many events and love the way they do things.

The band/DJ hybrid kept the guests dancing until 1:00 AM.

We used White Flower Cake Shoppe for our wedding cake. Not only do their cakes look amazing, but they taste good too. There have been plenty of times where I have tasted the cake at weddings I was working at and was so surprised at how blah the cake tasted. I mean for goodness sakes, you pay enough for it….it better taste like the best thing you ever put in your mouth! Anytime I sang at a wedding that I actually noticed the cake it was always a White Flower cake, so that was easy for us and we were so happy with our decision…mmmmmmm.

Rick and Tiffany’s cake was both breathtaking and delicious.

RTH – What surprised you the most about the whole experience?

There are a several things. First, how much things cost and how fast it all adds up! Well, I really should say that surprised Rick….haha. Second, is how last minute people wait to turn in their response cards! I mean seriously, as if you don’t have enough to worry about in the last few weeks before your wedding you now have to worry about tracking down cousin so and so from God knows where to see if they want beef or chicken.

And finally, on a more serious note, is how much we enjoyed ourselves. I really thought I was going to be a nervous wreck, but we had such a good time and so did our guests. I am the one that was supposed to be sending thank you notes out for all of our gifts and here we were receiving thank you notes from our guests saying they have never had so much fun at a wedding before. That’s awesome.

A Rockin’ Summer of Celebrities

We thought helping to produce Lebron’s 25th birthday was awesome, but nothing compares to the opportunities we have had this summer working with local and national celebrities.

Our relationship with Barroom Cleveland has certainly offered us many opportunities to get involved with over-the-top celebrations for VIPs like Jason Derulo & Elvis Duran and the Z100 morning show. For Jason Derulo, Rock The House provided audio support for his spectacular performance and had a chance to spend a little quality time with him after the show.

Melissa Miller with Momentum Event Planning in Cleveland has also opened many doors for us. Partnering with Key Bank, we have provided sound, MC/ DJ Entertainment and Photo Magic for several Key Bank Grand Opening Events around town. On May 20, 2010 we were in the company of Taylor HicksAmerican Idol winner who is now performing on Broadway as Danny Zuko  in Grease!

On June 22, we had the pleasure of working with Josh Cribs– Cleveland’s favorite footballer and all-around awesome guy.

We also had the honor of performing at a local celebrity’s wedding. Michael Cardamone, of WKYC’s Good Company Cleveland was married to the beautiful Rebecca Anthony on May 21, 2010. The wonderful couple had a stunning, intimate wedding in Cleveland’s Little Italy. Matt and Brian from Rock The House provided DJ/MC entertainment &  lighting support. Congratulations to Michael and Rebecca! You Rock!

We have some exciting upcoming events as well. Well-known Cleveland-based Disc Jockey, DJ EV is celebrating his birthday this evening, July 8th, 2010 at Barroom Cleveland. Happy Birthday e.v., we can’t wait to celebrate!

Last but not least, we have an upcoming After-Party on July 14th, 2010 planned for a little lady named Gaga. Perhaps you have heard of her?

Rock The House goes Theme Crazy!

Who doesn’t love a theme party?  Here are Rock The House, we love helping our clients take their event’s theme to the next level with awesome interactive activities, music, lighting and event professionals who bring themes to life.

Why do theme parties work?  Well, it’s simple.  Themes simulate your guests’ imaginations and invite them into places that are unfamiliar in their day-to-day lives. Themes also help narrow-down ideas and lead party planners on a more direct path.

On Saturday, April 9th, the path we took was along The Yellow Brick Road. Enter the Brown family. Mom, Leslie Brown came into Rock The House on a mission: to make her guests feel as though they landed Over the Rainbow into the Land of Oz.

Jamie Belkin Events produced this out-of-the box celebration at Sammy’s Legacy VillageSteve Hacker Productions contributed in making a custom and thematic video that starred the guest of honor, Jordan, in her favorite movie of all time.

When I walked through the doors of Sammy’s it became clear that I was not in Kansas anymore. The Brown’s had everything: The Yellow-Brick Road, The Tornado, the Red Slippers, the Munchkins, and Wizard, Flying monkeys, aggressive trees, all three witches, Dorothy, Todo, and of course, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and The Cowardly Lion. With life-sized versions of all of the memorable characters, created by Jamie Belkin Events.  Guests truly felt as if they were in a different place… somewhere over the rainbow.

Rock the House facilitated in making Oz come to life with a 15 foot projection screen which played the movie itself on repeat throughout the night. Guests walked in through the doors of Sammy’s listening to the sounds of:

Ha, ha, ha Ho, ho, ho, And a couple of tra – la – las, That’s how we laugh the day away…In the Merry Old Land of Oz…

Our awesome creative team came up with an out-of-the-box photo magic design that allowed guests to put their faces onto their favorite Oz character.

Thank you to everyone who made this event a success. It was amazing to be part of such a creative team of event professionals.

High School ROCK Off

2009 was a great year for Rock The House and Live Nation. On both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, we brought The Rock The House Party Pavilion to both The 18th Annual Marc’s Great American Rib Cook-Off & Music Festival and Taste of Cleveland.

Rock The House started 2010 off with a Bang as well when Barry Gable from Live Nation requested our presence at the 2010 Tri-C High School Rock Off. Throughout the months of January and February, 19 of North-Eastern Ohio’s up-and-coming musicians came together to put on live performances at The House of Blues.

At Rock The House, we believe strongly in music education and loved supporting these talented young musical groups.

Jeff Kutz, our VP of Sales and Headlining Entertainer says:

I was overwhelmed by how gifted the young performers were. These high-schoolers represent one of the most talented groups of musicians I have ever seen live. I loved working and emceeing the event. Working with sponsors such as Live Nation, Kiss FM, Tri-C, Ohio Natural Gas and House of Blues was a thrill and an honor.

At the event finale on February 7, Maddie Finn won the grand prize and also was named the first female- fronted band to ever to win The High School Rock-Off.

Rock The House Wins a World Class Customer Service Award!

For the Rock The House Team, June 8, 2010 offered us a reason to celebrate. After a long and thorough application process, we were recognized at Smart Business Magazine’s 2010 World Class Customer Service Awards, presented by Metro Lexus. Rock The House staff members were thrilled to be guests at this prestigious event.

j_j_m

RTH full time staff members, Matt Radicelli, Jeff Kutz and Jessica Goodworth arrived in style during cocktail hour-where we were kindly greeted by old friends and people we had not yet met. While sipping on top-shelf beverages and taking bites of the fantastic finger food- provided by Executive Caterers at Landerhaven, we were also offered the opportunity to mix and mingle with other professionals with whom we don’t normally get to hang out with, such as:

Skoda Minotti

Cleveland Clinic

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

Corporate College

Flique Creative

Le Chaperon Rouge

Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage

Your Teen Magazine

The awards ceremony consisted of hilarious banter between the hosts- Metro Lexus’s Dan Pyle and John R. DiJulius of The DiJulius Group. We enjoyed hearing them crack jokes, while watching behind-the-scenes video coverage of all of the companies’ interviews.

While only some Rock The House staff members were able to attend the event, all of us were on a mission this year to offer over-the-top customer service to our clients, colleagues and fellow staff members. We have developed a customer service system that is unheard of in our industry – if it’s not right… it’s free!
